Making sustainable change

We’re honored to receive the prestigious Spirit of NC Award in the category of Investment in Long-Term Sustainable Impact. The United Way of North Carolina awards ceremony, held on April 9, 2024 at the Charles Mack Citizen Center in Mooresville, recognizes organizations whose United Way campaigns exemplify the ‘spirit’ of their community.

The United Way of North Carolina awarded F&M Bank for our collaboration with community stakeholders to address our community’s most pressing issues, ultimately leading to systemic and sustainable change.

F&M Bank has built a longstanding partnership with Rowan County United Way that not only involves raising funds. Our team also volunteers and sponsors United Way events, including the Day of Caring and Into the Light Suicide & Mental Health Awareness Walk.

"F&M Bank has been a strong and steadfast supporter of Rowan County United Way for many years. The bank has always prioritized working alongside the organization to create systemic and sustainable change in the Rowan County community,” said Rowan County United Way Marketing and Communications Manager Tara Allen. “As a philanthropic leader, F&M Bank supports United Way as well as other nonprofit organizations with their time, talent and treasures. They have helped revitalize neighborhoods, partnered with organizations to provide access to healthy foods and education and much more."

F&M Bank Chairman & CEO Steve Fisher has served the United Way of Rowan County in various capacities, including on the Board of Directors. Fisher also advocates for United Way’s new initiative called “The HUB: A Center for Collaboration.” The HUB will serve as a space for organizations, businesses and community leaders to pool resources and collaborate to create long-term strategies for change. Fisher leads this endeavor as the project’s Chair of the Cabinet.

"At F&M Bank, we have a tradition of community service. Receiving the Spirit of NC Award is a testament to our values and unwavering commitment to Rowan County,” said F&M Bank Chairman & CEO Steve Fisher. “We are honored to stand alongside our partners at Rowan County United Way and look forward to continuing our efforts to build a stronger, more vibrant community together."

We’re proud to be a community-centered bank. That’s a tradition you can count on. For life.
