What is Card Guardian?

Card Guardian is a service that F&M Bank provides that gives you the ability to receive and respond to text alerts about your debit card transactions.

How do I sign up?

Go to All you need is your debit card number and postal zip code to enroll. To complete the process, view the Terms and Conditions and enter the cell phone number where you wish to receive your text message alerts and submit. Follow the directions from the website to complete the enrollment process. Please refer to the Card Guardian User Guide for visual step-by-step instructions.

How does it work?

F&M Bank will pre-determine specific alerts based on recent fraud trends. You will receive a text message from FMBNK Guardian Alert in the event that any debit card transaction falls into one of the predetermined categories.

If you authorized the transaction you simply ignore and do nothing.

If you did NOT authorize the transaction, call the number (provided in the text message) and your card will be cancelled. You will need to contact the bank to order a new card.

What does this service cost?

NOTHING! This is a free* service that we at F&M Bank offer our cardholders.

Can I select which alerts I want?

No. F&M Bank will determine which alerts are in place based on the current fraud trends. The alerts will be published on F&M’s website at the top of the Card Guardian page.

How long is my enrollment?

Enrollment lasts for one year. You will have to reenroll every 12 months in order to continue using the service. A renewal notice will be sent to the mobile device 6 days prior to enrollment expiration. Three renewal reminders will be sent to the device prior to expiring. If the cardholder does NOT respond, the device will be removed from the service upon expiration date.

How do I cancel this service or stop receiving messages?

To cancel this service simply reply STOP to one of the messages that you receive and your card will be removed from the service. You can also cancel the service by logging into the Card Guardian website and following the steps to unsubscribe.
